When the word cancer comes up in the media it’s almost always followed by a story about treatment and detection. But what about another important part of the cancer story that often gets overlooked: prevention? On this week’s Health Show we’ll talk to a naturopathic specialist about how to stop cancer before it starts. We’ll also find out that when it comes to cancer treatment, there’s plenty of stress to go around. And we’ll learn about some new diagnostic technology that’s a breath of fresh air.

CANCER PREVENTION...NATURALLY
It’s not unusual to hear or read a story about a new cancer treatment or a breakthrough in cancer detection technology. But what about prevention...trying to live your life cancer free? It’s not as out of the question as it sounds...and a few common sense steps can go a long way. Lise Alschuler is a doctor of naturopathic medicine and the director of naturopathic medicine at Cancer Treatment Centers of America at Midwestern Regional Medical Center, an accredited regional hospital specializing in comprehensive integrative cancer care in suburban Chicago, Illinois. She is also the co-author of The Definitive Guide to Cancer: An Integrated Approach to Prevention, Treatment and Healing. She spoke with The Health Show's Bob Barrett who asked the question: just how preventable is cancer?
