Finding a job in today’s marketplace is tough enough...but job hunting while living with, or possibly, concealing a chronic illness has its own set of unique problems. On this week’s Health Show, we’ll talk about living with chronic illness in the workplace. We’ll also get a report on a condition that can make simple communication a struggle...stuttering. CHRONIC ILLNESS IN THE WORKPLACE
Many diseases that years ago would have been fatal or debilitating are now being controlled with drugs and therapy. That leaves many people living with chronic illness looking for their spot in the workplace. Rosalind Joffe is the president and founder of C-I Coach dot com. She’s lived with Multiple Sclerosis for 30 years and has had other auto immune diseases. Her new book is called Women, Work and Autoimmune Disease - Keep Working Girlfriend. She has been helping working people with chronic illness communicate with her blogs and is amazed at just how many people in the workplace are dealing with chronic conditions.

Stuttering
Getting by in the workplace with a chronic illness is tough enough, think about what it would be like getting through a job interview if you stutter. More than three million Americans stutter. Researchers don’t know what causes stuttering. Theories have ranged from nature to nurture. Whatever the cause, it’s a disability that holds its victims in a prison of self-doubt, fear and humiliation. Les Lovoy recalls a personal journey of how he beat stuttering, and how others are coping with the disorder

Prostate Cancer Research in Buffalo, NY
Some of the most cutting edge research into Prostate Cancer is being done at the Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, New York. Dr Donald Trump is the president and CEO of Roswell Park. He is a medical oncologist and researcher, leading the Institute’s active clinical research in vitamin D-based cancer prevention and treatment, caring for patients with prostate cancer and other urological cancers. Bob Barrett recently asked him about Roswell Park’s latest findings on treatment and prevention of Prostate Cancer.
