How about trying to diagnose this one. It’s a disease with lots of very specific symptoms...except when the symptoms are different, or there are no symptoms. On this week’s Health Show, we’ll learn about Celiac Disease and the bigger picture of gluten intolerance. Then we’ll have that conversation that every school child dreads...the healthy back to school conversation. This time, we’ll focus a little more on the schools.

LEARN YOUR A-B-CELIACS
Celiac disease is a tough one. You can have a number of symptoms, or have none. You can be in one of the high risk groups...or not. One thing is sure, left unchecked it can make you miserable in a number of health threatening ways. Dr. Stephen Wangen is a board certified physician in Seattle specializing in digestive disorders and food allergies. He is the author of "The Irritable Bowel Syndrome Solution" and "Healthier Without Wheat: A New Understanding of Wheat Allergies, Celiac Disease, and Non-Celiac Gluten Intolerance". He has first-hand experience with his area of expertise, having been diagnosed with IBS and later a gluten intolerance in 1996 as well as a dairy allergy. Bob Barrett visited Dr. Wangen at his IBS Treatment Center in Seattle.
