CANADIAN LISTERIA OUTBREAK
In the summer of 2008, 22 people across Canada died as a result of Listeria bacteria found in tainted deli meats. The deaths highlighted the need for improvements in food safety.....and showed just how common the bacteria is and how difficult it is to get rid of. It also led to the appointment of an independent investigator commissioned by the federal government. Now, the Canadian government says it will implement all of the recommendations made in a recent report on the outbreak. Dan Karpenchuk has more on those recommendations and the crisis that led to the report.
