Malaria is not a problem we hear much about in the US. It’s been decades since Malaria was for all intents and purposes eradicated from our shores. But worldwide, it is still a deadly problem. On this week’s Health Show, we’ll talk about Malaria, from the bugs that spreads the bug, to new hopes for a vaccine. Then we’ll hear about the advances in the use of stents to prevent heart attacks...and a story about the Asian king of fruits, that some say tastes like heaven and smells like hell.

Durian - The Smelly King Of Fruits
Southeast Asians love durian...a fruit that looks like a spike-covered football and smell likes the team’s locker room. The vitamin-packed durian is often described as tasting like heaven and smelling like hell. But that’s Westerners’ reaction to the fruit that Southeast Asians sniff, swallow and savour. Enterprising Southeast Asians are now masquerading durian to get queasy Westerners accustomed to this beloved, healthy fruit. Nancy Greenleese took a taste test in Malaysia and Brunei.
